SWAMP WATER pairs our Starburst 36 mother with reversed Toad Venom pollen in a resin-forward cross built for the solventless hunter — without sacrificing the flower.

Starburst 36 is deeply tied to modern solventless culture. Five separate SB36 phenotypes were processed as ice-water-hash rosin and analyzed in published ACS Omega aroma research.

The cultivar has backed that reputation up in competition as well: Starburst 36 took 1st Place Connoisseur’s Choice at Ego Clash 2022, while an Entourage × KnowNot Farms Starburst 36 took 1st Place Solventless at the 2024 Oregon Growers Cup.

Its reputation is built around heavy resin and a complex profile of tropical fruit, citrus, sweetness and candy.

Toad Venom brings its own documented resin history. The cultivar has been released as cold-cure live rosin by Nature’s Lab and as both flower and solventless rosin in premium hash-hole production.

THE ’97 KC36 MYSTERY

The other side of Starburst 36 reaches into the old Dutch seed era through ’97 KC36, a preserved selection connected to K.C. Brains Holland.

The exact KC36 parentage has remained guarded, but historical lineage accounts have reported:

Spanish Indica × KC606

That reported history leads into one of the more interesting mysteries in old-school cannabis breeding.

What exactly was KC606?

KC606 appears throughout early K.C. Brains breeding work and was associated with earlier-flowering breeding stock. Old grower discussions have also speculated that KC606 may have represented some form of early-flowering Skunk-type selection.

That Skunk connection has never been definitively established, so we treat it as cannabis history and breeder lore rather than confirmed pedigree.

But that’s part of what makes SWAMP WATER special: beneath the modern tropical candy and resin sits a genetic trail reaching back through ’97 KC36, reported Spanish Indica ancestry and the mysterious KC606.
